Shelter – Grand Rapids Screening

Wed, Jun 14, 2017 @ 7:00pm
Covenant House Michigan
2959 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
Detroit, MI 48208
SHELTER is a powerful documentary by the award-winning Renaud Brothers and executive producer Michael K. Williams, telling the raw and emotional stories of homeless young people as they seek help and hope at Covenant House. From the team behind the Peabody Award winning Last Chance High comes Shelter, an intimate documentary following homeless young people. https://youtu.be/6TKsvl24GTY
At Covenant House New Orleans, located on the outskirts of the French Quarter, the doors never close, and there is always room for one more.
On any given day, a constant stream of young people carrying everything they own in plastic garbage bags fills the courtyard.
The prospective residents are just teenagers, but have already been labeled drug addicts, prostitutes, schizophrenics, criminals and outcasts. As one staff member puts it, “the most damaged population of youth that exists in society today.”
Filming with unfettered access over the course of a year, brothers Brent and Craig Renaud tell the raw and emotional stories of the incredible kids who seek shelter at Covenant House, and the staff struggling to work miracles everyday on their behalf.
Special Grand Rapids Screening
On June 14th (7:00pm), SHELTER will have a one-night only advance screening at Celebration! Cinema North & IMAX Theatre.
Tickets are available for purchase at the following link. Please help us spread the word with your friends and family!
