There are many ways to help Covenant House Michigan. You can collect toiletries, socks, or cold weather gear. You can volunteer to help us sort donations, or mentor our kids. You can keep our kids, their decisions, and their futures in your prayers.

We also need people who will commit to contributing on a monthly basis. This commitment, whether it be $25.00 or $100.00, ensures that we will be able to help every young person who comes to our doors. Donors who pledge this type of support are enrolled in our Parent Club.

Some of our kids go away to college. When the holiday breaks come around they return to Covenant House –the only place they consider home. They are so grateful to have their Covenant House family.

MGM Grand hosted their annual holiday party for Covenant House on December 8. Their staff transformed the dining hall into a holiday affair by creating a grandeur display of decorations. The residents enjoyed the decor and had the opportunity to partake in a gourmet feast prepared by MGM’s own chef. MGM Staff came as Christmas carolers to sing holiday favorites. Santa Claus himself even made an appearance. Gift bags full of toiletries, movie passes and a $50 Target gift card were given to each resident.

Reason to give #10: Hit the Road Jack

We don’t want our kids to come back. Yes, we love our kids and want to help them, but once they leave us we don’t want them to end up in a situation that causes them to become homeless again. We want our kids to be leaders and we encourage their growth and provide tools for life-long success.

Calling all Angels (CAA) is a committee of friends dedicated to ending abuse and finding a home for homeless children. Each year Calling All Angels hosts a fundraiser to help an organization who serves young people. This year they sought out Covenant House Michigan and focused their efforts on raising proceeds to benefit our Outreach Program. They wanted to make sure that our Outreach Program has all the tools necessary to seek out young people and bring them back to Covenant House where they can feel safe.

Reason to give #4: Homelessness cannot wait.

When a kid comes to us we have to act immediately to make sure their basic needs are met. Some kids haven’t eaten in a week. We need to make sure they are safe, warm and fed and then we need to find out why they are homeless so we can address their situations individually. Our mission is based on faith and the belief that every child deserves to be safe, loved and respected. We fulfill this mission by providing shelter and services to children and youth who are homeless or at great risk.

Reason to give #12: Pay it forward.

Did you know that many of our kids who leave Covenant House contact us later to give back? We just received an e-mail the other day from one of our former residents who has clothes to donate. One of our former kids volunteers on a regular basis and looks for opportunities to help the kids who live at Covenant House now.

Reason to give #1: Prevent Homelessness

Illiteracy is one of the biggest challenges homeless kids face. 90% of our kids are school dropouts. They have 3rd grade reading levels and have a hard time with basic math. Without their education they aren’t able to get good jobs or go onto higher education. Help us provide our kids with an education so they can move forward instead of ending up on the streets.
