Worker, Mother, FriendCovenant House employee Mary Grace, has always known that she was meant to help others. Growing up, Mary’s mother, who was a missionary, taught her at an early age that selflessness was not only moral, but it was necessary for living a well-balanced life. As a child, Mary grew up in a big family, so it was only fitting that she would have a big family of her own. Mary has one biological child and seven adopted children. And while times have been hard, especially being a divorced single parent of eight, Mary never stops giving. |

As you may remember, the youth group known as “Righteous Mission” arrived last summer and completely transformed our campus in less than a week. The group created murals in our Crisis Center, planted a healing and urban garden, renovated the chapel, landscaped the campus, created the career closet and helped develop an advocacy program. |
Community Service Knows No DistanceMaking an eight hour trek to Detroit isn’t something that most students would have in mind during their summer vacation. But this year youth groups from both Bettendorf, Iowa and York, Pennsylvania have decided to make that journey. |
A Time to Celebrate!“I now give to you the 2010 GED Graduates of Covenant House Michigan!” are words that will live on in the lives of every graduate in attendance on July 23, 2010 at CHM. Although things were damp and dreary outside, the mood inside the chapel was lively and bright. The smiles, proud faces and positive energy filled the entire room. Obtaining a GED meant so much more to the recipients than just gaining a piece of paper. Having a GED could mean a chance at a better career, it could also mean a college life is possible, but having a GED certainly means that a better quality of life is available. |
