Planned Giving

Planned Giving is the art and science of using your charitable contributions to reach your personal and financial goals.  A planned gift expresses a special dedication to our troubled youth and Covenant House Michigan’s mission to save them.  A planned gift can strengthen Covenant House Michigan while providing valuable benefits to you.

There is no cost for Planned Giving services.  Planned giving opportunities include the following:

Bequests:  The Planned Giving department provides assistance to help you remember Covenant House Michigan in your will.  Our booklet Thoughtful Ways to Remember Our Kids in Your Will contains ideas and suggested wording.

Life Income Gifts:  The Planned Giving department provides comprehensive services on life income gifts.  Covenant House serves as a trustee of Charitable Remainder Trusts, which provides the greatest flexibility. Our Charitable Remainder Trusts receive high quality administration at no cost to the donor or to the trust.

For a more affordable contribution, the Covenant House Gift Annuity is the most popular.  A Pooled Income Fund is also available.  A gift providing life income can be arranged for contributions as affordable as $5,000.

Gifts of Securities or Real Estate:  Appreciated property provides a gift opportunity.  Capital gains tax can be avoided when appreciated securities are contributed to Covenant House Michigan.  A contribution of appreciated real estate has great potential for capital gains tax savings.  Planned Giving provides comprehensive services to complete your gift of stock, bonds, mutual fund shares or real estate safely and promptly, and provide the necessary assistance to claim your tax benefits.

The Cornerstone:  The Covenant House Cornerstone is a society established to recognize individuals who have made a planned gift.  The commitment of members truly is the cornerstone of our covenant with kids.  Cornerstone members receive a handsome recognition certificate, the latest inside news about Covenant House, plus other items of interest.

Other Services:  Other services are available.  Please call us at (313) 463-2015 or fill out a contact form.  We look forward to answering your questions and being of service to you and your advisors with no obligation.

Note: Covenant House does not provide financial advice.
