For those youth who want to change their lives but need support in order to ease their emotional, intellectual and spiritual passage from childhood to adulthood, Rights of Passage (ROP) can help. ROP is an extension of the Crisis Center, where residents may stay up to two years. The 30-bed transitional living program offers youth ages 18-22 a safe and stable environment that they can call "home".
Residents and staff work together and interact in order to create a family atmosphere. Youth are able to focus on pursuing their goals because of a set structure and resources offered by Covenant House Michigan. ROP is an outlet for exploring and developing spiritual, emotional, social, political, physical and cultural values. Every youth attends school, vocational training or is employed. They receive individual and group counseling, medical care and are assigned a mentor and counselor.

Most importantly, youth learn independent living skills such as time and money management, decision-making, setting priorities and how to focus on realistic goals. At ROP, youth develop a plan and learn the skills needed to transition into adulthood.
More than 450 youth have been served at ROP.
