Paul

Paul had a number of problems at home that influenced him to drop out of Mumford High School and move out of state with his aunt. However, he was unable to attend school without a legal guardian’s consent. He moved in with his father and quickly found that his father’s lifestyle was anything but positive.

Paul was unable to finish high school. “I tried to make it without my diploma but realized I couldn’t get a job,” stated Paul. He began living in his car and didn’t want to ask for help. He was ashamed of being homeless so he didn’t come to CHM’s Crisis Center.

Instead, Paul began attending GED prep classes and working with Mr. Walker. “My family wasn’t a lot to be proud of -- no one has finished school since my Grandfather!” exclaimed Paul. “I felt that it was time for me to bite my pride, get my life together, and put honor back in the family name.

With the help of Mr. Walker, Paul graduated with his GED, applied for college and was accepted to Andrew College in Georgia to pursue a pre-med degree.

“Covenant House’s programs are very helpful for those of us who really want something and are focused on accomplishing that,” stated Paul.
