Paris
Paris is a 21-year-old living in the Rights of Passage building. Before coming to Detroit he lived in New Orleans. On the outside, Paris seems like a humble, fun-loving person, so one would wonder how he ended up at Covenant House Michigan.
He had gotten into a physical altercation with his mother’s boyfriend, “It was bound to happen,” he said, “life at home was not sweet.” After the altercation, Paris moved out of his mother’s house and stayed in a shelter called Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM). Staying in this shelter lasted about two days, so Paris decided to talk to his boss.
His boss told him about Covenant House Michigan. While Paris was at his aunt’s house, an outreach team member picked him up and brought him to Covenant House Michigan.
Paris now works as an intern and attends Covenant House Academy Central. He plans to study at Oakland Community College to become a nurse.
“I love all of the staff at Covenant House Michigan; they are all here to help if you ask.”
