Mike

Mike

Mike describes himself as a “prime example of a troubled teen”: the kind of guy who we hope our kids don’t emulate, but, inevitably, the one they think is cool and follow. His habits caught up with him, and, after a series of conflicts with his parents, he was put out of the house.

When he came to the Crisis Center, Mike quickly realized that he’d have to shape up and follow rules if he didn’t want to end up on the streets again. Even though it was a hard transition for Mike, he’s learned valuable lessons and appreciates the time CHM staff devoted to him. From hygiene tips to upping his responsibility level, Mike has grown tremendously while residing at Covenant House.

Mike recently transitioned from the Crisis Center to the Rights of Passage long-term transitional program and is looking forward to going to Wayne County Community College in the fall. His plan is to major in Criminal Justice and eventually be part of a S.W.A.T. team.

Although Mike is grateful for CHM, he has committed to never return. He’s learned his lesson about responsibility and is confident that he’ll be able to make it on his own, thanks to Covenant House Michigan.
