Latoshua
Latoshua was 20 years old and lived at CHM for 9 months. She moved out and enrolled at Marygrove College.
Latoshua lost her childhood to abuse. She would run away to escape the molestation, sleeping in abandoned houses, cars, garages and parks, but would eventually return in desperation. When things became too much to bear, she started using drugs and drinking heavily. Eventually, the State took her away, probably saving her life in the process. She was able to graduate and begin college. However, things took a downward spiral and she found herself homeless again.
Latoshua came to CHM. “Covenant House provided me with a safe place to lay my head, three meals a day, helped me to find a job and get my license,” she said. “They gave me what I had lost: peace, love, understanding, and last but not least, hope.”
