Latasha

Latasha recently visited CHM to share her accomplishments with her extended family. In 2002, she resided at Covenant House after being homeless for six months. She was a single parent with nowhere to turn.

Although she and her mother had a shaky relationship, Latasha's mother agreed to take care of Latasha's daughter until Latasha got her life together. Latasha remembers walking into the Crisis Center and meeting Carlos, the Manager. "We will help you, but do you want to help yourself?" he asked.

"The staff were in my corner. They kept me positive and motivated everyday." She received a bed to sleep in, three meals a day, and the structure she needed to focus. "No one judged me at Covenant House, instead they encouraged me to move forward," said Latasha.

Latasha got married last year and recently graduated. She stopped by CHM's campus to introduce her husband and show off her cap and gown. She began filling out college applications and plans to get her degree in forensic science.
