Jessica
Jessica is 20 years old and has been at the Crisis Center for just over a month. As a teen she loved school and sought out Riverside Preparatory Middle College Academy as the place to finish her high school education. She wasn’t satisfied with the education she was getting at the local high school and switched locations. She also appreciated that her new school was affiliated with a church.
She is currently working at an automotive manufacturing plant and hopes to enroll in college soon. Jessica comes from a family with a police background and hopes to complete her degree in criminal justice before becoming an officer. While she is here, her goal is to save up enough money for an apartment where she can live with her daughter. Her daughter is currently staying with Jessica’s mom.
Jessica came to us after repeated conflicts with her mom over money issues. She had been helping her mom out by splitting the family bills but became overwhelmed when her mom kept demanding more money. Wanting to take care of herself and her daughter, she felt she needed somewhere to pull things together and get a fresh start on her future.
She can’t wait to be back with her daughter and hopes to teach her the importance of doing well in school. She wants her daughter to have good options for college and knows now that doing well in school will lay that foundation.
