Felicia

Living in abandoned buildings, going days without food, and witnessing the horrors of life on the street were daily struggles for Felicia.

She dropped out of high school after 9th grade and spent her days hanging out with destructive friends. Felicia's mother became fed up with the behavior and sent her to lock-up facilities and girls' homes in addition to the homes of friends and family members.

Eventually running out of resources, Felicia resorted to finding abandoned houses and buildings to stay in. When asked about staying in these places, she replies, “Yeah, I was scared, but I did what I had to do."

This is not Felicia’s first time at Covenant House Michigan, but CHM is a place of second and even third chances. Through CHM, she is able to get back on her feet and realize some of her short- and long-term goals.

As she works through the G.E.D program, Felicia hopes to find a job, and become a Registered Nurse within the next ten years.
