Deangelow
Unlike most of our residents at CHM, Deangelow, 19 doesn’t have a story that is haunted by sleepless nights due to being homeless and hungry; instead, the pure desire to turn his life around brought him to CHM.
As a child, Deangelow met several hardships. When he was only three years old he witnessed the murder of his cousin and by age seven his mother had given him up for adoption. Not long after, he was blessed enough to be adopted into a family that loved and cared for him.
On the outside, Deangelow appeared to be doing well, he was in school, working in the family business and had his own house by the age of 16 however, what no one knew was that the pain from his cousin’s death and his mother’s abandonment haunted him everyday. Soon Deangelow succumbed to gangs and a life on the streets. “I felt like they really knew me, but truthfully, I barely knew myself.”
After becoming a father at the age of 17, Deangelow knew that it was time for a change. Hearing about CHM through a friend that also turned his life around, Deangelow decided to come to CHM after hearing about the program from a friend. “I want her to be better then me,” Deangelow said in regards to his daughter, “but the only way that will happen is if I change.”
Currently Deangelow is attending the job club program in hopes of finding a job. He also plans to obtain his GED during his stay at CHM.
