Darius

Darius is an 18-year-old student at Covenant House Academy Central, as well as a resident at the Crisis Center. One of our Covenant Idol stars, Darius enjoys rapping, writing lyrics, and reading.

Before coming to CHM Central, Darius went to Romulus High School. In January, he moved to Detroit to live with his grandfather and had to drop out. Darius knew it was important to graduate and get his diploma, so he researched schools online. He discovered Covenant House and all it had to offer, and decided to come here to work on getting his diploma and to get his life together. Darius also works in the intern program on Covenant’s main campus.

Darius plans to graduate in January and go to either a community college or Phoenix University to study journalism or communication. He is also trying to get into the Rights of Passage program. Darius says right now he is very excited for Prom, and can’t wait to show off his new outfit!

Darius’s favorite subject is history. “You can always predict your future from your past,” he says. One of his favorite teachers is Mr. Sanddler, saying he is very motivational. “He keeps me going.” Another favorite teacher is Ms. Nelson. “She reminds me of my mother, always staying positive.”
