Danielle

Danielle, Crisis Center resident and 2006 GED Graduate, has been working at Providence Hospital for six months. She is extremely grateful for her job and enjoys working in the healthcare field. She will be returning to Wayne County Community College this fall.

Sister Xavier, CHM Board Member and Board Chair of Providence Health, knows the importance of creating job opportunities for our youth. She connected Providence Hospital’s Human Resources Department with CHM’s Program Department so they could work out an ongoing employment partnership.

When Providence Hospital has a job opening in housekeeping or maintenance, they call CHM to see if any residents might qualify. Once a youth passes the job skills test, they are eligible for the hiring process. Once hired, they are placed in part-time positions with the option of full-time work following a probationary period. Youth are also able to move around to other areas of the hospital once they have established themselves as good workers.

Danielle is a wonderful example of CHM partnering with local businesses to advance the development of our kids into productive members of society.
