Christopher

Christopher, 18, is new to CHM. Like most of our residents, Christopher’s childhood was full of instability and hardship. His parents both struggled with serious drug addictions. As a result, Christopher and his five siblings grew up in and out of homeless shelters.

Without consistent support and a stable lifestyle, Chris struggled in school. Finally, in 9th grade he just dropped out. He ended up alone and on the streets.

Through the years he and his siblings stuck together, but eventually he had nowhere to turn. Chris made it to Covenant House Michigan. “Before I came to Covenant House I felt like I wasn’t wanted. Now I feel like I’m part of a family.”

Chris currently resides in our Crisis Center. Even though he’s only been with us a short while, Chris already completed his GED requirements and will be participating in the spring graduation. He recently obtained a job at McDonalds. He hopes to attend college soon, and become a social worker. Where does he want to work? Covenant House Michigan's Crisis Center.

It costs $61 to shelter Christopher each night in the Crisis Center.
