Chris

Chris, 19, lived in Tennessee until he got in trouble with the law. Chris spent a few months in jail and after he was released he decided not to go back to his mother’s home in Michigan. He was worried he would fall back into his negative lifestyle there.

Since Chris could not go back to Tennessee without the hassle of paying fines, having papers transferred, and getting accepted back into the state, he took it upon himself to find a place to live.

He searched the internet and found Covenant House Michigan, but he did not want to live in a place called ‘Covenant’ so he continued his search. Eventually, someone else gave him information on a homeless shelter and he decided to check it out. He didn’t realize it was Covenant House!

Once he got here, he lived in the Crisis Center for two and a half months before going to Rights of Passage. He is enrolled in Covenant House Academy Central and is planning to attend Oakland County Community College. He wants to play basketball for the school and also wants to study business management and music engineering.

“Covenant House Michigan is a good place to get back on your feet. They help you get on track in school and direct you towards your career.”
