Antione
The first time Antione’s mom kicked him out for the night, he was only seven years old. Not knowing where to go, he slept in the place that he felt was the safest– the graveyard…at least it had bars around it.
After that being kicked out as a form of punishment became commonplace: Antione slept in abandoned buildings, crack houses, in cars, and behind his high school. While the streets weren’t safe – home wasn’t much better. His uncle got mad one night and put a knife to his throat.
Soon after he turned 18, his mother kicked him out for the last time. He called the Nineline and was dropped off at Covenant House Michigan. He was welcomed to the Crisis Center where his immediate needs were met and he had access to counseling. They helped him get health insurance, provide job leads and help him sign up for classes. “I don’t have to worry about where I’m going to sleep,” he said. “I don’t have to worry about someone coming up and beating or raping me.”
Antione continued to go to school while he was on the street, received his high school diploma, and has a certificate in 3D graphics/animation/CAD. He’s now in the Rights of Passage program and planning to attend Oakland Community College soon.
His real love, however, is basketball. He says that when he makes a basket, he feels like he is putting all the “bad stuff” behind him, and moving on to a bright new future.

God Bless bro!
I was kinda in da same situation you were in when I was growin up! I was n foster care from birth, all da way 2 when I turned 18...Im 19 now and basically, I made it on my own, wit the help from no one really. Once I got a job, I saved up, and once i saved up, I brought everything I needed! First thing I brought was a car, so if i got put out then my car was my home...then i brought a laptop wit internet so I can browse the net looking for new friends 2 kick it with. Websites like: Myspace, Facebook, yahoo messenger, etc...I met mostly girls doe so just incase somethin went wrong then I could rely on 1 of them! If I was 2 tell you the story of my life, It would be almost 30 minutes or longer worth of talking. I seen u on the news 2! The female that was on the news with u named AUDREY was in the same foster care system as me and we use to talk on the phone as friends, then we just lost contact with eachother cuz she kept moving from place to place! My name Ray and I would gladly appreciated if u could find a way for me 2 connect with her again...Times is rough but not as bad when u just put it in god's hands! Im a music producer now, wit a studio, making and selling beats....I rap and sing on and off! Bout 2 start school again for RECORDING ENGINEERING. So if u wanna hit me up the my number is; 313-467-8505(cell) or email me at: raydizzle_xray@yahoo.com hit me up on myspace>>>>www.myspace.com/xray731
