When?

Sunday, August 28, 2011 @ 2:00 pm

Where?

Cass Park
Detroit, MI.

Why?

KEM LIVE @ MACK & THIRD : A CALL TO SERVICE is an annual live FREE concert held in Detroit’s Cass Park, an area known for its large consistent homeless population.

The event is open to the public and underscores a Food Drive & Fundraiser for the Homeless. Covenant House Michigan is one of the local charities who will benefit. This event also features a WORLDWIDE BROADCAST via the internet and in 2011 will tie into www.usaserve.gov.

Attendees are asked to bring canned goods in lieu of a ticket sale.

All beverage and t-shirt sales made by attendees will also be donated. Monetary donations can be made onsite, by phone, texting or online.

The purpose of this day-long community service effort is to feed 1000 homeless people and motivate them with a message from National Recording Artist and Detroit native KEM (who was once
homeless); to gather food and funding for the area’s community shelters and related organizations, and to encourage people all over the world to get involved with volunteering and giving.

The hope is to bring attention to the plight of the homeless, motivate the community to get involved and to give people near and far a reprieve from the day-to-day stresses of the economy by providing 6 hours of FREE Live entertainment including a 1-hour performance by Universal Motown Recording Artist KEM.

The event also features distribution of information by community organizations, food and crafts vendors, free health screenings including STD and Rapid AIDS testing.
