About Jane Abraham:

Jane is married to U. S. Secretary of Energy, Spencer Abraham. They have three young children and reside in Falls Church, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. She formed her own consulting firm in 2002, Abraham Strategies, LLC. She is involved in several charitable organizations in Michigan and Washington, DC, benefiting women and children.

Jane earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, where she served as President of the Student Government.

Jane is currently the President of the Susan B. Anthony List, a non-profit 501(C)(4) political education and advocacy organization. Some of her other activities include:

  • Co-Chairperson, Senate Spouses Alliance, National Safe Kids Campaign -- the only national organization solely devoted to the prevention of unintentional injuries among children.
  • Member of the Board of Trustees, the Lab School of Washington. The mission of The Lab School is to provide comprehensive diagnostic and prescriptive educational services specifically designed to meet the needs of these students, to assist them in becoming productive members of society, and to enhance the capacity of families and professionals to work with them.
  • Member of the Board of Trustees of the Meridian International Center.
  • Former U.S. Senate Co-Chairperson, Congressional Spouses’ Steering Committee, National Children’s Alliance “Lend A Hand” Campaign; a non-profit membership organization that supports a multi-disciplinary team approach to child abuse. The “Lend A Hand” campaign is designed to heighten the awareness of the National Children’s Alliance and to help communities across America create or work with established Children’s Advocacy Centers.
  • Former U.S. Senate Chairperson, Christmas Angel Tree Project, and Prison Fellowship Ministries. Coordinates and delivers Christmas gifts to children of prison inmates on behalf of their parents.
  • Advocate for Breast Cancer Awareness. Participates and works on the annual National Race for the Cure and Michigan’s two annual Races for the Cure.
  • Honorary Chairperson, Southeast Michigan’s Safe Kids Coalition. Honorary Co-Chairperson, Futures Campaign, Project Rehab Foundation in West Michigan.

Jane has been a member of the Covenant House Michigan Board of Directors since 1999.
