You're My Guitar Hero

“These are good kids. They work hard at doing the right thing. I just want to do my part in giving back to them.”
Mr. Wilson, Caseworker Southwest Community Service Center

Mr. Wilson works at the CHM Southwest Community Service Center. Recently he has been able to combine two of his greatest passions: his love for the students and his love of music.

With seven years of composing, producing, and playing, Mr. Wilson wanted to share his love and knowledge of music with the kids. Two days a week, Mr. Wilson gives guitar lessons. The class ranges from beginner to intermediate levels of players but everyone is on the same “accord”. Once everyone is tuned up and ready to play they each take on their respective parts to a song that Mr. Wilson has coined “Rock 101”.

“These are good kids. They work hard at doing the right thing. I just want to do my part in giving back to them.” When asked what his overall hope was for the outcome of the class, Mr. Wilson responded, “To become rockers!”
