Sharing the Love
Sharing the Love
Five of our kids from ROP (Rights of Passage) attended Our Lady of Victory’s (OLV) youth group to talk about homelessness and how Covenant House has helped them get off the streets and get their lives on track. The high school aged youth at OLV were silently spell-bound for two hours as each resident shared not only their personal experiences, but also gave wise advise to the youth about keeping their own lives and relationships on track. Five youth, five different stories of how they ended up on the streets; from laziness, to rebelliousness, to sexual abuse and neglect, heart-felt tears were shed from our kids as well as OLV kids.
Youth director Greg Rende noted the “profound impact your teens had with our kids; the feedback was fast and overwhelming.” He vowed that our kids will not be forgotten by OLV. The group is making plans to raise awareness about Covenant House and our Mission to help kids, as well as visit and volunteer in whatever capacity they can.
