12 Kids of Christmas: Meet Janese
Reason to Give #2: Just Stop It
If you could stop a kid from becoming homeless… wouldn’t you? We believe prevention is the best policy when addressing youth homelessness. If we could reach them before they spend one night on the streets we could prevent them from so much suffering and pain. It is so important that we work with kids who are at-risk so that we can meet whatever needs they are lacking in their lives that may potentially cause them to become homeless.
Meet Janese.
Janese is 18 and attends the East Side Charter High School and Community Center.
We asked her her story, here's what she said:
Why did you come to Covenant House?
I became a student at Covenant House’s school and heard about all the different activities at the Community Service Center. Then one day I went in an asked how I can become a part of the team and closer to the Covenant House family.
If you could pick one thing that Covenant House has helped you with, what would it be?
Becoming a young lady and learning proper manners.
What are you grateful for?
I'm grateful for my life.
What's your best memory at Covenant House?
I have more than one favorite memory at Covenant House. One is performing in Covenant Idol and the other is being a charm girl during charm school.
And finally, what do you want to accomplish in the new year?
I want to graduate from high school, then graduate from beauty school and start attending college so that I can own my own beauty salon one day.
Yes! I want to give today to prevent homelessness and help all your kids, like Janese, succeed!
