Ensuring Kids are Dealt the Right Hand
Calling all Angels (CAA) is a committee of friends dedicated to ending abuse and finding a home for homeless children. Each year Calling All Angels hosts a fundraiser to help an organization who serves young people. This year they sought out Covenant House Michigan and focused their efforts on raising proceeds to benefit our Outreach Program. They wanted to make sure that our Outreach Program has all the tools necessary to seek out young people and bring them back to Covenant House where they can feel safe.
On November 6, Calling all Angels held its 4th annual fundraiser “A Benefit for Kids,” presented by Weingartz Supply Co. Inc. The event took place at San Marino Club in Troy. Channel 7 News Anchor Vic Faust hosted the event welcoming over 300 guests.
The night included a delicious dinner, casino gaming, a silent auction, dancing and program. There was also a champagne raffle sponsored by Lavdas Jewelers where the winner received a diamond bracelet.
The support that the community gave for Calling all Angels and Covenant House Michigan was greatly appreciated. Ten residents of the Crisis Center and Rights of Passage program also attended the event. Caylea spoke about how grateful she was that the Outreach Team drove all the way to Owosso to get her off the streets. Antione who had slept in parks, abandoned houses and other terrible places spoke about how grateful he is that Covenant House exists and is a place of love. The stories were very moving and compelling. The event raised over $100,000 to benefit our Outreach Program. Covenant House is grateful to CAA founder and Co-chair Laura Bostick and Co-chair Rosemarie Scotella-Kolanowski and all the CAA committee for all of their hard work and dedication to our mission. We are also very grateful for all the sponsors and supporters of this event.
