Christmas MGM Grand Style!

Covenant House youth were treated to a “Grand” Christmas celebration hosted by MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. This year was the 7th and best yet for this annual holiday party. Our kids were treated like royalty by the Executive staff that served and attended to each youth’s needs and desires. A holiday feast was prepared by the culinary department that one resident declared “scrumptious.” Included in the festivities were a drink station where you could make all types of non-alcohol drinks or coffees, an ice cream station for designing one-of-a-kind ice cream creations, and even a mashed potato bar! There were corny-but-fun carnival games with “cheesy” prizes, a highly enjoyed costume and photo booth, karaoke and dancing. As gifts each resident got to spin the wheel for a gift card from retailers or movie passes, bags filled with personal care products, and huge candy apples with all the trimmings!

Rights of Passage resident Raven, “really enjoyed the evening, especially being able to enjoy the company of fellow residents and seeing the unknown and new talents they possessed while singing, dancing and playing games.” For Terrance it was just about the fun and food. The holidays are tough for our kids because most of them have had very little in the way of family Christmas’ or celebrations, so this was a great treat and once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of them and it really made them feel special.

MGM Grand has become part of our Covenant House family, and family traditions with this being their seventh year hosting this party for our kids. The care the MGM staff and management had for our kids made them feel valued and at home, taking the time to interact with all of the young people and making the night magical for them. One CHM staff person remarked that “This is the kind of party you dream about going to when you are a kid.” Our kids will forever cherish the memories of that night and that MGM Grand Casino and Resorts made dreams come true in “Grand” style!
