CHM Residents Enjoy Cirque D'Or

July 22, 2010 - 1:48pm

Many of the residents at Covenant House usually aren’t able to experience life outside the city of Detroit. Worries about safety and shelter in their lives have often come before thoughts of entertainment or fun. So when the Covenant House residents have an opportunity to go on a field trip they absolutely love it.

Thanks to the Pistons Community Relations, who donated the tickets for CHM’s latest field trip, residents had the chance to see Cirque D’Or at Meadowbrook Music Festival. The Golden Dragon Acrobats stunned and amazed the entire audience during this show, demonstrating acts of contortion as well as extreme strength and flexibility. Covenant House youth especially appreciated this show because it gave them time away from their hectic lives to have fun and live like youth – something everyone needs in their life. The kids even tried the acrobat’s hat juggling routine during intermission! Thanks to donors and community partners, opportunities like these help make our youth well-rounded and offer them a chance to relax in the midst of their stressful situations.
